Mellow for an East Villager, this red-brick Irish lounge resembles a cosy candlelit pub equipped with rustic benches, where easy going sorts hang with friends or canoodle while getting a buzz on; super friendly barkeeps and an opened front with sidewalk seating help attract a loyal following. Imagine one of those 'Otheroom' bars being dropped onto St. Mark's and you have Bua. A deceptively roomy, well-polished haunt appealing to East Village bohemians of the better-hygiene variety, Bua offers a friendly main bar area, a romantic lounge space and a cool patio. If you want these guys to mix you a $7 cutesy cocktail, they'll do so without letting on that you're slowing things down, but everybody will be much happier if you stick with the $5 pints ($4 domestic). Candles light the little nooks that have been carved into brick walls and iron mountings provide a ye-olde-castle aesthetic. Sheckys
Taking over the space from Noa, a recently closed tiki bar, the young Irish owners of Bua (Irish for victory) quickly stripped away the tiki-ness, leaving behind an exposed brick lounge area with a garage door that swings open to let the outdoors in. The freshly stenciled walls and beers like Hefeweisen on tap suggest that this isn't a typical Irish bar. On the sidewalk, there's a porch with rattan couches, perfect for watching the pedestrian traffic near Tompkins Square Park. Time Out New York

I checked this bar out last weekend and it is really worth a visit. Great location, really friendly cosy atmosphere and awesome vibe.
Try it once and you'll be back again and again!
Pros: Location, Staff.

The name is Gaelic for "victory", and it seems at hand at this new East Village Irish Lounge. Exposed-brick walls studded with candles bathe the room in a warm glow, while large windows provide an open air feel in the summertime. Zagat Nightlife 2006
Bua, meaning victory in Gaelic, is sure to stand victorious within St Marks Place. Its exposed brick walls and international tap beers make Bua chicer than the average Irish bar.
